Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

We apply Operations Research methods to design energy- and cost-optimal fluid systems. For a given time-varying flow and pressure demand, finding an optimal combination of available components such as pumps, valves, pipes or accumulators and optimal settings for the employed components presents itself as a multi-stage optimization problem. This problem can be solved efficiently by using a hybrid approach which integrates a quasi-static formulation into a time-expanded network. In this work, we present the model formulation and comparative benchmarks for the example of a given fluid system.
