Abstract

Within the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 666 at the Technische Universität Darmstadt multichambered profiles of steel are created in continuous flow production. An essential part of that process is the band edge processing by high speed milling. The resulting burr has a negative influence on the subsequent processes. To reduce the burr height a special cutting geometry was developed. Integrating an in-line monitoring system allows to monitor the machining quality. Furthermore, a targeted intervention in the processing based on the measured data ensures dimensional accuracy of the created profiles.
