Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)
The development of network applications, e.g. of higher level protocols and complex distributed applications, requires adequate tools for the software production as well as for the performance evaluation. The system DESIGN (Distributed Environment for Simulation, !nvestigation and Generation of Network Applications) integrates both aspects. The fundamentals for structuring network applications and the concept for the application development with DESIGN are explained. DESIGN offers different run time environments to support different development phases. These runtime environments are discussed. The user interface and the development tools are outlined.
