Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

A prototype for configuring hardware and software was developed during a project among IBM Lehre & Forschung, the Computer Graphics Center (ZGDV), and the Institute for Interactive Computer Graphics (GRIS) from TH Darmstadt. It aims at helping vendors and clients configure systems based on possible congiguration alternatives. The expert system prototype composes a hardware/software configuration through the specification of the application environment and/or a specification of individual components. Conflicts and automatic under- or overestimation do not occur because the configuration always checks the completeness of the configuration and the actual class of possible choices.(AGD)
