Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)
We describe the influence of storytelling on the experience of suspense and immersion in virtual spaces. Following an analysis of the literary and dramatic parentage of interactive story experiences as it relates to German Literary and Drama theory, we derive an approach to automated interactive storytelling with regard to the use of computer support for suspenseful user experiences. An application verifies the discussed approach. The approach provides a method for making virtual environments attractive to users.
