Abstract

In this section, the basic ray-surface intersection algorithm based on this surface definition will be discussed. Together, we introduce extensions to handle sharp features such as edges and corners and bounded, nonorientable surfaces. Custom-tailored data structures are given together with various optimizations for static point clouds as weil as free-fonn deforming point-sampled surfaces. We conclude the section with tips to efficiently implement the proposed algorithms.
