Abstract

Measurement processes in the automotive industry are characterized by Computer Aided tools. Increasing cost and quality pressure with a reduced time-to-market necessitates a continuous improvement of processes. In the last decades, Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies become more and more popular. The utilization of those systems in multiple workflows promises improvements and reduced time in product development cycles. In this paper, a vision of the future usage of Virtual and Augmented Reality in automotive measuring processes is described. For that reason, the Augmented and Virtual technologies and the current measuring process are introduced. Four cases for the use of Augmented or Virtual Reality in measuring processes in the automotive industry are identified to give an example for the implementation of those technologies in product development processes. The use cases handle with the determination of sensor positions, the physical application of the sensors, the localization of sensors in case of failure and the visualization of results. Due to the fact that the used technologies are not applicable for this vision nowadays, requirements for future research are identified and explained.

Messprozesse in der Automobilindustrie zeichnen sich durch computergestützte Werkzeuge aus. Steigende Kosten und Qualitätsdruck mit reduzierter Markteinführungszeit erfordert eine kontinuierliche Verbesserung der Prozesse. In den letzten Jahrzehnten wurden Virtual und Augmented Reality Technologien immer beliebter. Die Nutzung dieser Systeme in mehreren Workflows verspricht Verbesserungen und reduzierte Zeit in Produktentwicklungszyklen. In diesem Paper wird eine Vision der zukünftigen Nutzung von Virtual and Augmented Reality in Automobilmessverfahren beschrieben. Aus diesem Grund werden die erweiterten und virtuellen Technologien und der aktuelle Messprozess eingeführt. Vier Fälle für den Einsatz von Augmented oder Virtual Reality in Messprozessen in der Automobilindustrie werden als Beispiel für die Umsetzung dieser Technologien in Produktentwicklungsprozessen identifiziert. Die Einsatzfälle behandeln die Ermittlung von Sensorpositionen, die physikalische Anwendung der Sensoren, die Lokalisierung von Sensoren bei Ausfall und die Visualisierung der Ergebnisse. Aufgrund der Tatsache, dass die verwendeten Technologien heute für diese Vision nicht anwendbar sind, werden die Anforderungen an die zukünftige Forschung identifiziert und erläutert.German
