Spectral detection sensitivity in the mesopic range for objects in the periphery - Testing CIE recommended model for mesopic viewing.

Konferenzveröffentlichung, Bibliographie

Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

The focus of this study is testing the recommended model for mesopic photometry of the CIE (CIE 191:2010). To do so the threshold radiance values of incremental targets were determined for 22 quasi-monochromatic detection targets with eleven subsects. Mesopic contrasts (cmes,th) were calculated according to the CIE MES2 model and plotted against the centroid wavelength of the detection targets. According to the CIE system, mesopic contrasts should be constant across different wavelengths, but this requirement could not be confirmed. To improve the model of mesopic visual performance, it is necessary to including eccentricity dependence and the contribution of chromatic retinal mechanisms in addition to rods and the photopic luminance channel.
