Method of a LOTAR Long Term Archiving for NX generated 3D Geometry.

Konferenzveröffentlichung, Bibliographie

Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

MTU Aero Engines AG and the Technische Universität Darmstadt conducted a project to integrate a LOTAR (LOng Term Archiving and Retrieval - prEN9300 series) compliant archive system for explicit 3D geometry into MTU’s PLM environment. The concept is largely based on Siemens NX, using out of the box functionality. The presentation highlights the following three methodical topics: • The LOTAR Standard requires controlling the product data quality of the archived 3D-CAD models. The CAD verification builds up on the SASIG quality rules. MTU therefore expands the existing company design rules by additional LOTAR rules with NX Checkmate. This increases the data quality of their CAD models for all downstream processes. • The geometric equivalence between the NX native 3D model and the 3D model to-be archived is assured by the LOTAR validation rules. NX provides Geometrical Validation Properties (GVP) in its STEP translator. The validation is carried out by comparing the GVP of the 3D archive with a future retrieval of the 3D model and increases the value of the archive significantly. • The structure and the content of an Archival Information Package compliant to the LOTAR Standard are presented in the end. The investigations of the 3D models indicated, that verification and validation are independent of each other. Both are essential for long term archiving.
