Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

The semiconducting properties of passive films of a type 304 stainless steel in electrolyte media (0.02M NaCl pH2) under straining conditions were investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The Mott-Schottky plots drop in the presence of tensile surface stresses after aging, indicating that the passive film dopants are modified with increasing the applied stress. The polarization curve indicates that the breakdown potential of unloaded sample has higher value. Residual stress in the direction of rolling was determined using X-ray diffraction.
