Abstract

Thin Y1Ba2Cu3O7−x films with c-axis orientation were deposited on LaAlO3, YSZ and MgO in an rf-sputtering system using a single YBCO-target in off-axis geometry. After many growths the Tc of the films degraded and holes appeared at their surface. A correlation was found between the appearance of holes, an yttrium rich film composition and the secondary phase Y2O3.
