Effects of "Re-used, Granulated, Reclaimed Asphalt Pavements with Polymer-Modified Bitumen (PmB) and Stabilizing Additives" on Asphalt Characteristics The effects of the stabilising additives (cellulose fibres and synthetic, amorphous precipitated silica) and the elastomer-modified bitumen in granulated, reclaimed, asphalt pavements consisting of surface courses on compacting, deformation and cracking behaviour of different hot-mix asphalt types were examined in the laboratory. For the laboratory experiments, asphalt concrete 0/11S and binder course asphalt 0/16 were used with 20 % of granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements. The asphalt bases 0/32C was examined with 25 and 40% of granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements respectively. The mixture was prepared by heating of the stone aggregates and granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements at different temperatures separately. The stone aggregates were heated within the temperature range of 150 to 230°C and the granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements were heated at 130°C respectively. The compacting behaviour of the above mentioned mixture was examined with the Marshall Compactor for determination of the Compacting Resistance D and Compacting Works was calculated with the help of the Gyrator Testing Machine. The resistance to permanent deformation of the asphalt variants was examined using the axial rates of strain with compression tests. The cracking behaviour was examined using transverse rates of strain with indirect tension tests. The bitumen characteristics of asphalt types were examined with conventional bitumen examinations and with the Dynamic Shear Rheometer. The stabilising additives or the PmB does not have recognisable influence on compacting resistances, although influences on the compacting works were found. The 'double engulfing' of the stone aggregate in the granulated, reclaimed pavements with bitumen results into higher compacting resistances of asphalt in comparison to those of conventional reference asphalt. The resistance to permanent deformation of the asphalt with "re-used, granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements" was better assessed in the axial rates of strain in compression tests than that of the "reference mixtures without re-used, granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements". The stabilising additives and PmB have slightly positive effect on the resistance to the permanent deformation of the asphalt with "re-used, granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements" but negative effect is observed in 'double engulfing' of the "re-used, granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements". Cracking resistance of the Asphalt types with "re-used, granulated, reclaimed asphalt pavements" was found smaller in comparison to that of conventional reference asphalt types with the indirect tension tests. | Englisch |
