Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

Metal films with periodic perforations become highly transparent for wavelengths close to the grating period. The attachment of dielectric films changes the resonant features of such gratings, namely the frequency of the transmission resonance. Measurements with a continuous wave (CW) optical-heterodyne THz system at 100 GHz demonstrate, that such grating sensors allow the accurate extraction of the permittivity of the attached films out of the induced frequency shift.
