Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

Block copolymers from [l]dimethylsilaferrocenophane (FS) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) were synthesized via sequential anionic polymerization. The key step in this synthesis is the 1,1-dimethylsilacyclobutane-mediated endcapping of the living poly(1,1'-ferrocenyldimethylsilane) precursor. It allows efficient grafting of MMA and thus the formation of well-defined diblock copolymers having molecular weights of around 100.000 g·mol-1 and polydispersities below 1.1. Investigation of the bulk microphase behavior using transmission electron microscopy shows strong phase-segregation of the copolymer segments. Depending on their overall composition, various microphase morphologies are observed, including a bicontinuous gyroidic.
