Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)
The COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine highlighted the vulnerability of industrial value streams. Value streams comprise all activities that are necessary to produce a product from the raw material to the final product. The understanding of value streams is therefore very important to identify which factors influence the supply of customers with the required products. The standard approach to analyze a value stream is the value stream analysis. It analyses the entire material and information flows in a production with focus on eliminating waste. So far, the value stream analysis does not include the identification of risks in a value stream. This shortcoming is addressed in this paper. Therefore, value stream elements are categorized and models for each of these categories are introduced. These models describe characteristic value stream elements and their risks. Based on the models the actual risks for value streams can be derived. The models were tested in a learning factory at TU Darmstadt. The experiments show that the models are applicable and provide an overview of the risk situation in the focused value stream elements.
