Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

Power system state estimation approximates the state of the power system using a sparse metering infrastructure. For the optimal placement of measurement stations, observability and reliability requirements must be considered. In this work an optimal meter placement algorithm is used with an objective function that combines both monetary cost reduction and topological distribution, as well as the number of critical measurements and sets. In the investigation, the degree of meshing is increased or decreased by the closing of breakers and the switching off of lines, respectively. Simulation results of the CIGRE medium voltage network and the IEEE 30-bus network show that the minimum number of measurements for an observable system is not influenced by the degree of meshing. However, a higher degree of meshing has a positive effect on the reliability of the monitoring system as the number of critical measurements and sets is reduced.
