Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)
This research aims to improve the efficiency and sustainability of constructing dry-stacking buildingblocks using SL block by developing a parallel construction method. Inspired by M.C. Escher’s wood-cut prints of the Tower of Babel and Filippo Brunelleschi’s helical herringbone patterned brick structurein the Duomo di Firenze, the study introduces tower structures designed for concurrent assembly byindependent working units. SL blocks, octo-cubes for dry-stacking, form interlocking structures requir-ing minimal communication. The assembly process involves placing components in specific sequences, with additional support if needed. The challenge lies in enabling simultaneous construction by inde-pendent units. A computational framework using attributed grammar defines interlocking relationships, generating patterns for towering structures. An algorithm automates candidate block calculations forparallel assembly, ensuring collision avoidance and structural stability. Physical models were used tostudy proposed methods, testing various tower constructions for feasibility and limitations.
