Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)
The paper ventures an outlook on possible developments in research in the fields of Soil Mechanics and Soil Dynamics within the next five to ten years, based on the current state-of-the-art, the trends of the past few years and in view of current and future challenges in geotechnics. The paper mainly focuses on the authors' previous and current fields of research, namely the development, calibration and validation of constitutive models for soils and the underlying experimental investigations, soil behavior under (highly) cyclic and dynamic loading, linking of the macromechanical behavior with the microlevel, special types of soils, bio-based methods of soil improvement, and pore fluid-soil interaction.
