Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

The demand for cabling in the German transmission grid rises in the course of the transmission grid expansion. The capacitive cable characteristic leads to resonance shifts to lower frequencies. This may amplify harmonic voltages, especially the low-order harmonics in the transmission grids, such as the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 11th and 13th harmonic. Therefore, these characteristic harmonics are in the focus of this report. The amplification of harmonics raises the question of potential limiting factors of EHV cabling. In this report, the impact of cabling on the resonance and harmonic voltage behavior is first investigated on a simplified equivalent circuit. The investigations point out two main influencing factors of cabling on the resonance behavior: the distance to cable and the cable share. Near located cables can amplify e.g. the 3rd and 5th harmonic, whereas cables not directly connected to the observed busbar can amplify e.g. the 11th and 13th harmonic. Further, a large generic 380 kV honeycomb network is cabled successively up to a fully cabled network. The harmonic distortion is mapped by harmonic current sources in the distribution grid and is based on real measurements. As limit for the harmonic voltages, the planning levels from the IEC TR 61000-3-6 are used. The results show under the assumptions made that low cable shares, especially below 20 %, may raise the harmonic voltages. High cable shares lead to low harmonic voltages in the test grid since the capacitive cable behavior dominates the impedance.
