Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

Different firing algorithms for soft starters have been published in recent decades. Many of them create the firing pulses based only on the grid voltages or the current zero crossings. This paper presents a new space vector based firing algorithm which considers the rotor flux of the induction motor in firing pulse creation for industrial soft starters based on silicon controlled rectifiers (SCR). It combines the advantages of different procedures into a simple but powerful new algorithm.
