Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

The High Acceptance DiElecton Spectrometer (HADES), installed at the heavy-ion synchrotron SIS18 at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung (Germany) and investigates the microscopic properties of resonance matter formed in heavy-ion collision in the 1–2A GeV energy regime. Important topics of the research program are the mechanisms of strangeness production, the emissivity of resonance matter and the role of baryonic resonances herein. The latter topic is also addressed through investigations of exclusive channels in proton and pion beam induced reactions, both for hadronic and semi-leptonic final states. Recent HADES results on electromagnetic radiation and rare (multi-)strange hadron production provided the encouraging prospects for studying QCD matter in the region of nonzero net-baryon density. Hadron and dilepton spectra are confronted with results of other experiments as well as with available model calculations. The future experimental program at SIS18 during FAIR Phase-0 will also be discussed.
