Abstract

Reputation-based computational trust models are used to approximate future performance. Therefore, prior experiences, user ratings, recommendations and similar information is used. Providers of composite services assess the performance of the composite considering the performance of its components. Updating knowledge about the performance of component services based on the composite rating eventually allows to identify and replace component services that perform lower than expected. Two new approaches that integrate inter-component ratings and performance certificates issued by third-parties are proposed. Preliminary comparison with existing approaches that focus on customer ratings indicates that these two additional instruments help in correctly identifying low-performing component services.
