Abstract

6-Dimethylaminofulvene[¹] and its derivatives are useful starting materials for the preparation of non-benzenoid, cyclic, conjugated π-electron systems [²]. In the treatment of 6-fulvenyl p-toluenesulfonates with nucleophilic reagents we have found a simple process for the introduction of functional groups at the 6-position of the fulvenoid system.
