Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

The main goal of the German concept of Industrie 4.0 (I4.0) is merging the production with ICT (information and communication technology. It is distinguished by expanding of digital networking in the industrial environment. However this connected world involves various risks by hackers’ attacks, theft or manipulation of data. So it is essential to deal with these security challenges. One of the challenges is to protect global distributed products and data from pirates. Before beginning to develop an appropriate protection concept for an industrial system against targeted product piracy, a process model must be developed, which provide systematically an overview of this system. This concept should consist of various selective protective measures and analytical procedures. However an appropriate model, which is aligned to the specific needs of the piracy protection in the I4.0 environment is not existing. Based on this fact, a concept of Piracy Protection Navigator I4.0 (PPN I4.0) will be introduced in this paper. PPN I4.0 aims to support product manufacturers by determining the piracy attack points specifically in the I4.0 environment and helps them by identifying appropriate countermeasures against piracy attacks.
