Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

In the time of growing interest in green technology the most critical issue in the design of RF power amplifiers is to achieve high efficiencies. Usually power amplifiers are optimized for a single operation frequency with a targeted power level by fixed in-/output circuits. Tunable capacitors (varactors) based on Barium-Strontium-Titanate (BST) thick-films can be used in smart impedance matching networks at the input or output of the transistors. Thereby, the impedance presented to the transistor can be varied in order to optimize the operation condition of the transistor and hence to improve the overall efficiency.
